Catholic board dismisses two more cohorts due to COVID-19

The Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board has dismissed two more classes after confirmed cases of COVID-19.

A class of 23 students from St. Pius X Catholic Elementary School in Tecumseh was dismissed Wednesday, as was a class of 10 students from St. Anne Catholic High School in Lakeshore.

Affected students and their families were notified Wednesday morning.

The board continues to work with the Windsor Essex County Health Unit to identify any possible close contacts. The health unit is contacting any individuals who may have been affected to give directions.

If a parent has not been contacted by the health unit, their child has not been identified as a high-risk close contact and they may continue to go to school as usual.

Parents are asked to continue to monitor their children for symptoms of COVID-19 before sending them to school each morning.

There are currently three COVID-19 outbreaks at local schools. Begley Public School and W.J. Langlois are both closed due to outbreaks. There is also an outbreak within a cohort at Corpus Christi Middle School.
