Catholic schools in Windsor dismiss three cohorts due to COVID-19

The Windsor Essex Catholic School Board (WECDSB) has dismissed three cohorts of students from two schools after being notified of confirmed cases COVID-19.

Following the announcement on Sunday evening, the school board confirmed that 41 students from two cohorts at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Elementary School in Windsor have been dismissed. Another cohort of 26 students at St. Joseph Catholic Elementary School in River Canard has also been asked to stay home.

In a written release, the school board announced that it was notified of the confirmed cases on Sunday afternoon and has since been working with the Windsor Essex County Health Unit (WECHU) by providing lists of staff and students who may have been directly affected.

The WECDSB said it has also sent out a message to both school communities reassuring parents that if they have not been contacted by the health unit, they have not been identified as close contacts and may continue to attend school as usual.
