Not being able to hold a large fundraiser this year is not stopping the Essex Municipal OPP Community Policing Committee (CPC) from helping out a local charitable organization.
Director of Living in Friendship and Equality Program (L.I.F.E.) Lea-Anne Shepley accepted a $10,000 donation from the committee on Wednesday.
The OPP Essex CPC was formed in 2012 and is made up of provincial police and six civilian volunteers. The committee meets each month to go over policing issues, services, and events.
Unlike previous years, the committee was unable to hold its annual large fundraiser this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the committee was still able to support a community initiative with proceeds raised during previous events.
