City hopes to find and memorialize mass grave

The search is on for an unmarked mass grave along Windsor's riverfront.

The City of Windsor and the University of Windsor have teamed up to find it.

On social media, Mayor Drew Dilkens said the mass grave dates back to a cholera outbreak in 1854 that killed 60 immigrants.

The exact location is not yet known, but researchers believe it is somewhere between downtown and Walkerville.

Dilkens hopes to erect an appropriate memorial on the site.
