Additional photos released of suspected fatal hit-and-run vehicle

Police have released additional photos of a vehicle in connection with a hit-and-run collision that claimed the life of a child in Windsor.

The Windsor Police Service released the two additional images Tuesday evening as they continued to appeal to the public for help identifying the driver of the vehicle that struck and killed the child on Sunday.

Police said the incident happened shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Jefferson Boulevard near Haig Avenue. Emergency crews responded to the location and the child was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries. However, the unidentified child succumbed to injuries sustained in the collision.

Investigators believe that the vehicle involved fled the scene.

The Windsor police Forensic Identification Unit and collision reconstruction unit worked at the scene for several hours.

The suspect vehicle has been described as a silver-coloured SUV or crossover, likely with front end damage. Photos of the vehicle that is believed to have been involved in the collision can be viewed below.

The driver of the vehicle is also being asked to contact police.
