Windsor Express, London Lightning could be back in March

After announcing it would resume play in late December, the National Basketball League of Canada now said it would be March before its players get back on the court.

Its board directors voted unanimously to further delay the start of the 2021 season to March 12 because of ongoing concerns related to the pandemic.

Fans should expect fewer games next season and a limit on how many fans will be allowed to watch inside the venues.

"There's no question that we are eager to return to the court and play again, but we won't take any risks and will only do so in a safe environment," said Deputy Commissioner Audley Stephenson. "We also want to make sure that all provincial and federal guidelines regarding health and safety are met."

2021 will be the league's tenth season.

It has not released a schedule yet.
