19 new COVID-19 cases in Windsor-Essex

Windsor-Essex saw several new COVID-19 cases on Sunday.

The local health unit reported 19 additional cases, bringing the regional case count to 3,086.

Three of the latest cases are agri-farm workers, three are from close contacts of a confirmed case, two are residents of a long-term care home, one is a local healthcare worker, one is travel related to Michigan and nine of the cases remain under investigation.

Two more people recovered from the virus over the past 24 hours. A total of 2,818 of the total cases are listed as being resolved.

There are multiple COVID-19 outbreaks still in the region including four long-term care homes, a workplace in Leamington and a residence at the University of Windsor.

Meanwhile, provincial health officials reported 1,248 new cases across the province on Sunday and processed 44,837 tests. The case count in Ontario is now at 94,009 with 78,303 recovered cases.
