COVID-19 exposure identified at St. Peter Catholic Elementary School

Multiple cohorts at St. Peter Catholic Elementary School in Tecumseh have been sent home after exposure to COVID-19.

Following direction from the health unit, the Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board has dismissed 44 students. Twenty students from one class, an additional seven students from the latchkey child care program, and 17 students from a bus cohort will have to isolate for 14 days.

The health unit is contacting individuals staff and students who may have been affected and will give directions for them to follow.

If parents have not been contacted by the health unit, then their children have not been identified as close contacts and may continue to attend school.

St. Peter Catholic Elementary School has advised parents to continue to monitor their children for symptoms of COVID-19 on a daily basis and to keep them home if any symptoms are present, and contact the health unit if they are suspected to have contracted the virus.

This is the third elementary school with the WECDSB to have a COVID-19 exposure in the last week. No outbreaks have been identified at any of the schools.
