Tranby Park improvements address flooding in Riverside

Neighbours in the vicinity of Tranby Park are already benefitting from $3.65 million of work completed to reduce basement and surface flooding.

The project, which included the installation of a new water main along Tranby Avenue, drainage improvements, and new stormwater detention features at the park, is part of the City of Windsor's Sewer Master Plan.

"These were some of the hardest-hit homes in the 2016, 2017 floods, they've been waiting for this project," said Councillor Jo-Anne Gignac. "These are critically important projects, one is not going to make the difference those Sewer Masterplan recommendations are contained in every project that we will be doing in the Riverside and East Riverside area over the next 10-15 years. Every component of it is going to mean that eventually, we are going to see an alleviation."

These projects were completed with funding from the City of Windsor and the federal Disaster Mitigation and Adaption Fund.

This is one of many projects being completed with the $32 million committed by the federal government through the Disaster Mitigation and Adaption Fund. Projects throughout the city will be completed over the next 10 years.

In the spring, the new wetland themed playground at Tranby Park will be completed and a butterfly garden and native trees will be planted.
