OPP cruiser hit when police interrupt break-and-enter

Two people are in custody after the Ontario Provincial Police interrupted a break-in in progress at a home in Lakeshore.

The OPP got a call from the resident Wednesday morning who said a vehicle pulled into their driveway on Manning Road, and two people were breaking into their house.

When officers arrived, the vehicle was still in the driveway, and a suspect was running from the home.

They attempted to flee but struck the OPP cruiser.

More officers arrived on the scene and arrested the pair.

Two people from Windsor face charges -- 38-year-old Donald Jenkinson and 30-year-old Michele Laliberty.

Both face break-and-enter charges, along with counts for possessing tools for a break-in and a charge of possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking.

Laliberty is also charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and mischief over $5,000.

The charges have not been proven in court, but the two have a court date in Windsor on December 2.
