There was a big spike in new COVID-19 cases in Windsor-Essex on Tuesday.
Among the new cases are 12 close contacts of a previously confirmed case. Nine are household contacts of a confirmed case from the same household and two other unrelated cases are close contacts of a person who visited from another jurisdiction. The final close contact case is a household contact from a different household.
A statement from the Windsor Essex County Health Unit said they continue to investigate the links between the cases.
"There is no community cluster for us to investigate at the moment as the cases are tied to their respective households," said Dr. Wajid Ahmed, medical officer of health.
Of the remaining cases, three are community-acquired and two are still under investigation.
There are now 44 active cases in the community.
Two local workplaces are experiencing an outbreak. A construction site in Lakeshore and a food and beverage facility in Kingsville. There are no outbreaks at any long-term care facility, retirement home, or school.
Ontario reported 827 new cases on Tuesday. There were 355 new cases in Toronto, 169 in Peel, 89 in York Region, and 58 in Ottawa. There were over 23,900 tests completed in the province.
