Six new COVID-19 cases reported in Windsor-Essex

Windsor-Essex reported six additional cases of COVID-19 on Saturday.

According to the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit, two of the latest cases are local health care workers, two are from close contact of a confirmed case and two are community-acquired.

The case count in the region now sits a 2,787 with 76 deaths. Eleven new cases were listed as resolved on Saturday, with the total number of active cases at 25 and the total recoveries at 2,686.

There remained two COVID-19 outbreaks at area workplaces and zero outbreaks at long-term care homes or school settings.

Meanwhile, provincial health officials reported a record number of new cases on Saturday with 978.

"Locally, there are 348 new cases in Toronto, 170 in Peel, 141 in York Region, 89 in Ottawa and 51 in Durham. There are 625 more resolved cases," Health Minister Christine Elliott said on Twitter.
