Kingsville woman faces drug charges in Huron County
A 27-year-old Essex County woman is one of two people facing drug and impaired-driving charges.
Huron County OPP said it happened around 5 p.m. Tuesday at a restaurant on Main Street North in Exeter. An employee working the drive-thru window called police, believing that they had just served an impaired driver.
Officers arrived on the scene a few minutes later and saw the suspect vehicle parked in the restaurant lot. The driver was questioned, given a field sobriety test, and was arrested for impaired driving.
A search of the vehicle uncovered an amount of cannabis that was over the legal limit, along with some fentanyl. While this was going on, the female passenger, from Kingsville, tried to take off running but was soon apprehended.
Danya Stanley of Kingsville is charged with possession of fentanyl with intent to sell, illicit possession of cannabis, obstructing an officer, and failure to comply with a release order. She remains in custody with a court date set for Friday in Goderich.
The driver, 39-year-old Justin Beattie of South Huron, is charged with driving while impaired by drug, possession of fentanyl with intent to sell, and illicit possession of cannabis. He was released from custody and will answer to the charges in a Goderich courtroom on December 14.
These charges have not been proven in court.
