New screening process for hospital visitors

Windsor Regional Hospital wants to speed up the screening process for those coming to visit a patient.

As of Monday, those planning to visit the hospital need to fill out an online form.

Once submitted, the visitor will get an email telling them whether they can come in or not.

"The goal is to make it easier for those coming to the hospital and eliminate the bottlenecks that can occur during peak arrival times as individuals wait in lines to fill out paper copies of the screening form," said CEO David Musyj. "In some cases, it may save visitors a trip to the hospital if they are not cleared to enter."

Visitors should bring a copy of the email with them to the hospital along with photo identification. They should be presented at the screening desk.

The form is only valid until midnight of the day it is submitted.

The hospital also said, "visitors who receive screening clearance are not guaranteed entry into the hospital. Visitor restrictions remain in place."

A similar process for patients is in the works at Windsor Regional Hospital.
