Erie Shores Healthcare hires new CEO

Following a six-month-long search, Erie Shores Healthcare in Leamington has hired a new chief executive officer -- Kristin Kennedy.

She will take over from Dr. Ross Moncur, who has filled the roll on an interim basis following the departure of Janice Dawson in May.

"This is an exciting day for Erie Shores," said Moncur. "We are fortunate to have a new CEO who has such a deep understanding of what makes this hospital so vital to our community."

Moncur will stay on as the chief of staff.

Kennedy is a 25-year veteran of the healthcare sector. She is currently the hospital's vice-president of patient services and chief nursing executive. She is also an assistant professor at McMaster University.

"Living in one of the communities that Erie Shores Healthcare serves, I firmly believe in its value and a strong footprint in Windsor-Essex County," she said. "I look forward to advancing our accomplishments as a hospital and further our collaborations with our many partners."

Among Kennedy's other achievements, she was one of seven registered nurses selected from over 70 applicants to join the Inquiries, Complaints, and Reports Committee for the College of Nurses of Ontario. She holds a designation as a Certified Health Executive and a Masters of Health Management from McMaster University and is currently enrolled in the LLM Health Law degree program at Osgoode Hall Law School.

Last year, McMaster University awarded her its Professional Achievement Award.
