Windsor-Essex Ontario Health Team takes third step

The team working to create a Windsor Essex Ontario Health Team has hit another milestone in the process. It submitted a full application.

That is the third step in a four-step process.

Next, the team will have to wait for provincial government feedback, including funding to develop the infrastructure needed to create the team.

The Ford government announced the creation of the Ontario Health Teams to replace the Local Health Integrated Networks, or LHINs, in February 2019. A total of 29 teams across the province would operate under a super agency called Ontario Health.

Chatham-Kent was awarded a health team in December of last year, and London-Middlesex got one in July.

The team in Windsor-Essex would encompass 40 different organizations and agencies, and provide care for over 400,000 residents.
