Foundation repairs slow down gas spill cleanup

Efforts to clean up Sunday's gas leak at a gas station in Kingsville continue.

Residents living along County Road 20 near County Road 23 spent another night out of their homes, and there is no indication yet when they will be allowed back.

On Thursday, crews evacuated the crawlspace under the gas station and built an exterior sump pump to drain fluid around the building. However, the foundation on one corner of the gas station was compromised and had to be stabilized.

The concrete was repaired and is curing now.

Kingsville's partial state of emergency remains in effect, and County Road 20 remains closed near County Road 23.
