A student at the University of Windsor is self-isolating after testing positive for COVID-19.

The university said it was informed Tuesday by the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit.

The health unit said the risk of transmission is low since the student did not attend any classes. It does not believe anyone on campus was exposed.

The University of Windsor is holding the majority of its classes online during the pandemic, however, the university said it is working with public health officials.

“The University of Windsor family extends sincere wishes for a quick recovery to the affected student,” said University President Rob Gordon. “I have every confidence that the strict protocols the University has in place and its close relationship with the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit will continue to keep our campus safe and healthy.”

Anyone who goes on campus is required to wear a face mask when entering any building or common area. Before going, students are also asked to complete a self-assessment questionnaire.
