Eight businesses have been put on notice over face masks

So far, the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit has put eight businesses in the region on notice for not following public health guidelines during the pandemic.

Another four were cited this week.

The names of the businesses have not been released, and health inspectors will follow up with them to make sure orders are being complied with before issuing fines.

CEO Theresa Marentette said there have been 296 complaints this month from the public, mostly about people not wearing masks, not quarantining, not physically distancing, and crowded patios.

All of the businesses were given notices for not complying with the face-covering order.

Marentette said if the businesses do not comply with the notice, they could be fined.
