Leamington and Lakeshore Town Halls reopen

Starting Tuesday, residents in Leamington and Lakeshore can once again get married, pick up a marriage license, get a lottery and liquor license, or a business license at their town hall.

The Municipality of Leamington will start offering access to some municipal services by appointment only. The Leamington Municipal Building is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

To book an appointment, residents should call a customer service representative at 519-326-5761 during business hours.

The municipality is no longer accepting cash payments. Payments required in relation to an appointment will be completed at that time.

"We will continue expanding our service delivery options virtually, and in-person, and encourage residents to use our online services as much as possible," said Mayor Hilda MacDonald.

Virtual services have been offered by the municipality since March. The municipality said it will continue to offer access on its website, by email, and over the telephone.

"The municipality has been providing an increasing number of virtual services to residents using electronic payments, so the need to physically visit town hall is significantly reduced," added Chief Administrative Officer Peter Neufeld.

Inside the building, glass barriers have been put up at the customer service desks, and there are hand washing stations around the building. Visitors are also required to wear masks.

In Lakeshore, only two people will be allowed in the lobby of the town hall at a time.

In-person payments for municipal bills are allowed at the town hall, but only one person is allowed at the counter. Residents are still encouraged to use the dropbox, or sign up for direct deposit.

Anyone visiting to renew or get a license for taxi service, lottery, or marriage, is asked to call ahead to make an appointment.

Marriage ceremonies are still not allowed at Lakeshore's town hall.
