Windsor grateful fireworks location secret

The City of Windsor said it is grateful Monday night's Ford Fireworks is being moved away from the riverfront.

Instead, the fireworks will be set off at a secret location, where hopefully crowds will not congregate, possibly spreading COVID-19.

Viewers will be able to take part in the spectacle by staying home and watching them on TV. They'll air on WDIV Channel 4, starting at 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Typically, the fireworks are held along the riverfront attracting huge crowds along both sides of the Detroit River.

"The fireworks show is a fantastic tradition that ordinary draws hundreds of thousands to the area," said Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens. "But, this is no ordinary year. So, we appreciate the temptation to gather on the river has been removed, and we encourage everyone to enjoy the show safely from home."

In Ontario, gatherings of more than 100 people at an outdoor event are prohibited.
