Erie Shores Healthcare is ramping up the number of surgeries and procedures as the daily number of COVID-19 cases falls in Windsor-Essex.
Interim CEO and Chief of Staff Dr. Ross Moncur said the hospital would get up to 90 per cent of procedures it conducted before the pandemic. He said mammograms, ultrasounds, and more elective surgeries would go ahead starting immediately.
"Effective today, ESHC will now transition from Pandemic Response Stage 1B to 1A," read a release from the hospital.

The visitor policy is also being adjusted again.
There will be two blocks of time family members can visit patients in the hospital. The first is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The second block is from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Visitors need to choose one block to visit or the other. They can not attend both.
Visitors must be over 18-years-old, and only one essential family member will be allowed to visit for the duration of the patient's stay.
They will also answer screening questions at the main entrance before they are allowed inside. Masks are required, and visitors will only be permitted in the patient's room. That means they are not allowed in the common areas of the hospital.
Palliative care patients will be allowed to visit with their spiritual advisor.
In the Emergency Department, a patient at risk of imminent death may have a loved one present during their stay. One adult family member may accompany patients with cognitive or mobility issues.
Moncur said if the situation changes, the hospital will revisit its plan.
