Break-and-enter probed in Amherstburg

Windsor police's Amherstburg detachment is looking into a break-and-enter that took place last week.

On the Civic Holiday Monday, officers were called to a home on Dalhousie Street near Toddy Jones Park. It was initially reported that someone had broken into the residence around 3:30 a.m. and had taken assorted items.

The investigation revealed that someone might have been assaulted in the general area, at about the same time the break-in took place. No victims have come forward, but police are encouraging anyone who may have been the victim of a crime to report it to them.

The detachment's criminal investigations unit continues to look into this incident. Anyone who may have surveillance footage of the area around the time of the incident is asked to give investigators a call.

Anyone with information should call the Windsor police Amherstburg detachment at (519) 736-2252, ext. 226. Anonymous tips may be submitted to Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-TIPS (8477).
