Four new cases of COVID-19 reported in Windsor Essex

Health officials in Windsor Essex County reported four new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday.

Of the new cases, three are from within the community, while the other is linked to an agricultural worker. Currently, there are 11 workplace outbreaks, and one outbreak at an assisted living facility.

The increase brings the total number of cases in the area up to 2,368 since the pandemic began, 2,114 cases have been resolved. The total number of coronavirus related deaths in Essex County remains at 71.

Ontario reported 79 new cases on Sunday, a 0.2 percent increase from Saturday. The province has had a full week reporting fewer than 100 cases daily.

Provincial Health Minister, Christine Elliot, said 30 of the province’s 34 public health units are reporting fewer than five cases, with 18 of them reporting no new cases. A total of 36,279 cases have been resolved since the pandemic began, but two new deaths were announced on Sunday, bringing Ontario’s death toll up to 2,786.
