Secondary students in French Catholic board can resume full-time, in-class instruction

Kindergarten to Grade 12 students with the French Catholic school board will be able to attend class five days a week in September.

The school board represents schools from Essex County to Chatham-Kent, Middlesex County and Oxford County.

Secondary school students at the English public and Catholic school boards in Windsor-Essex will only be attending school in-class part-time based on current instruction from the Ministry of Education.

A letter sent to parents with students in the French board said each elementary class will be considered an individual cohort and will be composed of 10 students, 20 students or more. At the secondary level, students will follow a timetable that will limit direct and indirect contact between students to a maximum of 100 people from the school.

In-class attendance will be optional for all students during the 2020-2021 school year. Those students who do not attend in-class will be able to take courses by distance. The board will be asking families to register for in-class or online learning during the week of August 10 to 14.

All students in Grades 4 through 12 will be required to wear a mask. Masks are encouraged for students in Kindergarten to Grade 3. Visual cues and directional signs will be installed in schools to promote social distancing of two meters between students and teachers.
