Windsor-Essex sees 19 additional COVID-19 cases

The local health unit reported 19 new COVID-19 cases in Windsor-Essex on Saturday.

The total number of confirmed cases in the region is now at 2,325.

Nine of the latest cases are from the community, six are from agri-farm workers and four are still under investigation.

There were no new deaths reported on Saturday, with the local fatality rate sitting at 71. Meanwhile, one additional case was listed as resolved. Since the pandemic began, 1,444 people have recovered from the virus in Windsor-Essex.

There remained 12 workplace outbreaks on Saturday in the region- five farms, six manufacturing plants and one construction workplace. Two retirement homes in Windsor-Essex also remained in an outbreak.

Provincially, there was a 0.3 per cent increase in cases reported on Saturday. The number of cases in Ontario is now at  39,333 with 89.6 per cent of the cases resolved.
