Driver suffers smoke inhalation in truck fire
The Ontario Provincial Police is investigating after a tractor-trailer caught fire while driving along Hwy. 401 early Friday morning.
Police say the truck was in the westbound lanes near Hwy 77 in Lakeshore around 12:30 a.m. when it ignited.
Firefighters and police responded.
The driver was taken to a nearby hospital with smoke inhalation. It is not considered life-threatening.
The fire forced a partial closure of the westbound lanes for about four hours so police could investigate.
It reopened around 3 a.m.
