For the third time this month, organizers of the June 27th Miracle in LaSalle are opening up Westport Marina to distribute food bags for laid-off workers.
The food drive last month collected more than 2-million pounds of food and hygiene products, 340,000 pounds in LaSalle alone.
Once again, the marina will be open from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Thursday for anyone who has been on long-term layoff because of the pandemic. The invitation is for those who have not yet picked up a food bag.
"We understand as a committee how hard-pressed and long-term the job losses and business losses have been and will continue to be for many industries," read a release from the LaSalle committee. "We want to ensure employees and business owners in those industries are not suffering in silence."
Not-for-profit organizations running low on donations can also call LaSalle Town Councillor Sue Desjarlais at 519-563-7701 or email her at suedesjarlais@gmail.com for assistance.
If anyone requires transportation to the marina, they can also call Desjarlais or Nancy Campana.
