SIU invokes mandate after Lakeshore break and enter

The OPP has brought in Ontario's law enforcement oversight agency after a weekend break and enter in Lakeshore.

It happened around 10 p.m. Saturday at a business on Lakeshore Road 303 near Stoney Point. OPP officers, accompanied by a K-9 unit and the emergency response unit, arrived on scene to find two men on the property.

The men were located by police and arrested. Both were treated in hospital for injuries suffered during the arrest.

Since the suspects were injured in police presence, the OPP contacted the Special Investigations Unit (SIU), which has invoked its mandate. With that, the OPP will not provide additional information.

Gavin Ward, 49, and Shane Bulley, 30, both from Chatham, face a number of property-related charges. Both have been released and will have a chance to answer the charges in a Windsor courtroom on October 6.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the SIU at 1-800-787-8529.
