Windsor man says yes to $100,000

A stop at the store one day this spring brought a Windsor man a $100,000 prize.

Roy Macatangay of Windsor stopped by a Mac's convenience store on Lauzon Road to pick up a Lotto Max ticket for the May 15 draw. He decided to pay the extra looney for the Encore feature.

Macatangay, 47, a security supervisor, matched the last six of the seven Encore digits to take the $100,000. He went to collect his prize last week at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto.

While on his lunch break one day, Macatangay scanned his ticket on the OLG's lottery app and had to make sure several times that what he saw was real.

"When I saw the Big Winner message and the prize amount, I couldn't believe it," said Macatangay. "I checked it three more times to make sure it wasn't a fluke."

Macatangay kept the win to himself for a month, before he finally shared his good fortune with his aunt and uncle.

"It's been really exciting. These past two weeks, I've been starting to tell more family and close friends about it. They're excited for me," said Macatangay, who plans to use the winnings to buy a new car, as well as look for a bigger place to live.

Encore is a feature that comes with most of the OLG's games, and the player for an extra dollar can activate it. Encore is drawn every day.
