Windsor police seize over $217K in cash, drugs

Two people are facing charges after a Windsor police probe uncovered a cocaine trafficking operation, leading to the seizure of over $217,000 in drugs and cash.

The Windsor police's Drugs and Guns (DIGS) Unit began an investigation in early 2019 into a suspected cocaine enterprise in Windsor-Essex, according to Sergeant Steve Betteridge.

Two people were identified as potential suspects, and investigators believed that the pair was storing and selling cocaine from addresses in Windsor and LaSalle. Betteridge said vehicles that were driven by the suspects were also identified.

A warrant was obtained on Thursday to search two locations in Windsor and one in LaSalle, along with two vehicles. Both suspects were found and arrested without incident.

Police then seized 1,180 grams of suspected cocaine with a street value of about $118,000. Canadian cash totalling just over $99,000 was also confiscated.

Danny Moore, 60, of Windsor, and Shawn Evon, 42, of LaSalle, are both charged with possession of cocaine with the intent to sell. The charges have not been proven in court.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information on this case that may help investigators is asked to call Windsor police at (519) 255-6700, ext. 4361, or Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-TIPS (8477).
