New downtown parklet helping three restaurants serve customers during pandemic

Three downtown Windsor restaurants are able to expand operations thanks to the City of Windsor and the Downtown Windsor Business Improvement Association.

The Pitt Street East Parklet will be shared by Panache Restaurant & Lounge, La Guardia Italian Cuisine, and On A Roll Sushi to serve customers while their dining rooms are closed due to COVID-19.

"Opening this parklet means we're back in the game," says George Stratis, owner of On a Roll Sushi and Sliders. "The DWBIA, the Mayor, the City ... they've all really pulled through for downtown businesses, to give us a chance at surviving. Join us for dinner!"

Organizers say the parklet came together after just three days of planning, design, and deliberation.

"We're grateful to see our regulars again, enjoying the new Parklet space, as well as serve up our finely crafted cocktails to some new faces with this opportunity," says Michael Stojcic from Panache. "We can't thank the City and the DWBIA enough for making this happen so quickly."

Another parklet on Pelissier Avenue is in the works to serve customers of Craft Heads Brewing Co, Terra Cotta Gourmet Pizzeria, and Queen Ashtar Restaurant.
