'Very upsetting situation,' says Lakeshore Mayor about racist graffiti

The Town of Lakeshore has issued a statement after someone spray-painted a racist slur on a path between two schools this week.

The path is between St. William Catholic Elementary School and St. Anne's High School in Emeryville. The Ontario Provincial Police believe it was spray-painted there sometime early Monday morning.

"This is a very upsetting situation, and we have zero tolerance for racism," said Mayor Tom Bain. "The OPP is looking into the matter, and I encourage anyone who has information to contact them."

A crew from the town covered up the slur and made sure it was blended into the pavement so no one could read it.

Anyone with information is asked to call the OPP at 519-728-1810 or 1-888-310-1122. Crime Stoppers can be reached at 1-800-222-8477 if you chose to remain anonymous.
