Man charged after two sexual assault investigations

A Windsor man is facing charges in connection with two unrelated sexual assault investigations.

Just after midnight on July 2, police officers were called to the riverfront for a report of an assault.

The female victim reported she was approached by an unknown man while on the riverfront paths. When she left the area, the man followed her and attempted to make "small talk." According to police, the man became physical and touched her inappropriately in a sexual manner. The woman was also assaulted. She yelled for help and the man ran from the scene.

The Major Crimes Branch identified a suspect and he was arrested on July 3 around 11:15 p.m. on Bridge Avenue.

After his arrest, the man was linked to a previous sexual assault investigation from the end of May. He was also charged in relation to this case.

Chukuebuka (A.K.A. Jeffery) Madumere, 24, of Windsor is charged with two counts of sexual assault, two counts of assault, and one count of choking. The charges have not been proven in court.

The suspect and the victim were not known to each other in either case. Due to the similarities in these two cases and the fact the victims did not know the suspect, investigators believe other victims could potentially exist.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Windsor police at 519-255-6700 ext. 4830, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 519-258-8477 (TIPS) or online at www.catchcrooks.com.
