35 new COVID-19 cases in Windsor-Essex

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit is reporting several new COVID-19 cases in the region.

On Saturday, the health unit reported 35 new cases of the virus, bringing the total case count up to 1,656.

Twenty of the latest cases are from the agri-food sector, two are healthcare workers, 12 are community-based and one case is still under investigation.

Currently, there are outbreaks at two agricultural workplaces in Kingsville and two in Leamington. There are also two active outbreaks at area long-term care homes.

There were no new deaths reported on Saturday, with the local total still sitting at 68 since the pandemic began. So far 994 individuals have recovered from the virus in Windsor-Essex.

Provincially, 121 new cases were reported on Saturday morning, bringing the total case count in Ontario to 35,656.
