City of Windsor resuming services

More City of Windsor services will be opening in the coming weeks.

Starting July 6, City Hall and the offices on McDougall Avenue will reopen for public services like licensing, permit applications and taxation support.

"It will be done via an appointment only approach to reduce wait-times for services and also limit the number of individuals congregating at any given time," said Mayor Drew Dilkens.

Splash pads in the city will be opening by July 13. Fencing will be erected and a staff member will be on hand to limit the number of people using the splash pad at one time.

Sandpoint Beach is also expected to open on or before August 4. Staff will be on hand to limit entry on the beach. The City of Windsor will be conducting water testing as the health unit does not have the capacity to conduct those tests this year.

Indoor and outdoor city pools will remain closed at this time.

Park and sports field permits may resume in Stage 2 for outdoor team sports but only for training purposes. Park permits will also be available for small gatherings such as weddings, picnics, etc. following provincial guidelines mandating gatherings to 10 people or less.

The City of Windsor will also be offering limited day camps starting August 4- September 4 at the WFCU Centre and the Capri Pizzeria Recreation Complex. Registration for camps starts on Thursday, July 2.

Executive Director of Recreation Jan Wilson said they are following all of the regulations put out by the provincial government.

"There will be one to two staff per group and then eight to nine children per group, that group will stay together for the entire day with social distancing," said Wilson.

The city will keep registration open for approximately 10 days to determine how many groups they will host at the two facilities.
