TWEPI receives relief funding

Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island will get $629,788 in relief funding to get local tourism operators back on their feet.

Revenues in the tourism sector have fallen sharply since the start of the pandemic. The cash is hoped to be a catalyst for the recovery of tourism across the province.

"Tourism is a key driver of our regional economy in Windsor-Essex, and this timely funding from our federal government allows organizations like Tourism Windsor Essex to help our tourism sector, and the many businesses that depend on it, recover," said Windsor-Tecumseh MP Irek Kusmierczyk.

The money comes from the $30 million Regional Relief and Recovery Fund issued by FedDev Ontario and administered by the Tourism Industry Association of Ontario.

It will help destination market organizations showcase the extensive health and safety precautions taken by businesses and tourism operators as the economy reopens.
