WECHU reports five new cases

In the last 30 days, 83 per cent of all new COVID-19 cases in the Windsor Esses region have originated in Leamington and Kingsville.

On Friday, the Windsor Essex County Health Unit reported five new cases. Only one was linked to the agri-farm sector and the rest were community cases.

To date, the area has had a total of 1,374 confirmed cases of the virus. Fifty-nine per cent have now resolved, 35 per cent are currently isolating, and five per cent have died.

The primary source of exposure continues to be close contact with a confirmed case with community spread cases on a steady decline since the start of the virus.

As the economy re-opens and more people are out in the community, Medical Officer of Health Dr. Wajid Ahmed is reminding people to stay home if you are experiencing any symptoms and get tested if you suspect you've come in contact with the virus.
