Premier Doug Ford says he has the back of farmers in Windsor-Essex and he is doing everything he can to support them and the region moving forward.

Ford said a detailed plan to help area farmers and Windsor-Essex advance to Stage 2 will be rolled out Wednesday.

“I’ll do anything I can to support the farmers but there’s a lot of tension right now in Windsor-Essex and I just need to cool the temperature there. We’re going to resolve this, just like we resolved the majority of things, together, not the government we only do it together with the cooperation of the farmers and the workers,” said Ford.

During his daily news conference on Tuesday Ford also gave a shoutout to Medical Officer of Health for Windsor-Essex Dr. Wajid Ahmed.

“He’s doing a great job, he’s taking a lot of heat right now but he’s working his back off. To the folks in Windsor-Essex, we’re going to get back on track and we’re going to do it as quickly as possible with the support of the farmers and the workers. I feel sorry for the people of Windsor Essex and the workers and the farmers. But we’re going to get through this,” said Ford.

Ford also pledged he will stand by Windsor-Essex by not getting a hair-cut or have a meal on a patio until the entire province is in Stage 2.
