Suspect arrested in stolen vehicle investigation

A Windsor man has been arrested after a vehicle left running in a parking lot was stolen Tuesday.

Windsor police were called to a parking lot on Wyandotte Street East near Parent Avenue around 10 p.m. where the blue Lincoln was stolen while its owner was inside a store.

Police tracked down the vehicle in the area of Howard Avenue and Cataraqui Street. Two people were inside the car. When police were spotted, the driver took off. Police did not pursue the vehicle.

It was tracked to the area of Argyle Road where police saw a man leave the car. Police chased the man and he was placed under arrest.

A second suspect is believed to have also fled from the stolen vehicle and is still at large.

Ronald Ward, 27, is facing charges of possession of stolen property, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and escaping lawful custody.

The stolen car was recovered with significant damage.

The owner of the vehicle was also issued a ticket for leaving a vehicle unattended with the keys in the ignition, contrary to a City of Windsor bylaw.
