Police identify body found in Detroit River

Windsor police say they know who's body they recovered from the Detroit River Sunday morning, but the service has not released the man's name.

They said the man was the same person who disappeared in the water near Ouellette Avenue and Riverside Drive the evening of May 23.

Officers on patrol responded to calls a body was found in the same area around 10 a.m. Sunday.

The Windsor Police Service Marine Unit recovered it, along with members of the Forensic Identification Unit and a coroner.

There was an autopsy and investigators do not suspect foul play.

The next of kin has been notified.
