Six new COVID-19 cases in Windsor-Essex, no additional deaths

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit is reporting another day of no new deaths related to COVID-19.

As of Saturday afternoon, the number of fatalities in Windsor-Essex remains at 63.

There were however six new cases reported, bringing the total up to 956. Only one new case was listed as being resolved from Friday to Saturday.

The largest percentage of cases of COVID-19 in Windsor-Essex are among individuals between those 20 to 29 years old, accounting for 174 of the total case count.

According to the weekly epidemiological summary presented on Friday, case counts for Windsor-Essex are declining and the case fatality rate is lower in Windsor-Essex, at 6.8 per cent than Ontario at 8.1 per cent.

So far throughout the region, 16,808 tests have been performed with 927 results pending.

Meanwhile, Ontario health officials reported a 1.3 per cent increase in cases on Saturday, bringing the total to 27,533.
