Outbreaks over at three facilities

Three more local long-term care facilities are no longer experiencing COVID-19 outbreaks.

Outbreak status was rescinded at Country Village Homes, Chartwell Kingsville, and Lifetimes on Riverside after no new cases developed over the last 14 days.

"For 14 days straight if there is no new onset of symptoms or no new case in the facility it would be safe to assume that there would be no transmission happening in the facility because all of these residents in these facilities are being monitored for their symptoms. They're being checked for their temperature. Any new symptom onset can keep the facilities under outbreak until we get a result back," said Dr. Wajid Ahmed, Medical Officer of Health for Windsor-Essex.

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit is still managing outbreaks at 14 other long-term care and retirement facilities.

The health unit reported 11 new cases of COVID-19 in the region, while no new deaths have been reported. To date, 14,474 people have been tested for the virus and 805 cases have been confirmed. Of the confirmed cases, 455 have been resolved and 63 people have died. There are 1,004 pending test results.
