Zero new COVID-19 deaths in Windsor-Essex

Local health officials reported no new deaths related to COVID-19 on Sunday.

The total number of virus-related fatalities remains at 63 in Windsor-Essex.

There were however six new cases reported on Sunday, bringing the local total to 773. The number of resolved cases didn't change from Saturday to Sunday, remaining at 407.

There Windsor-Essex County Public Health Unit continues to monitor outbreaks at 17 local long-term care and retirement homes including Chartwell Kingsville Retirement Residence, Berkshire Care Centre, Village at St. Clair, Extendicare Southwood Lakes, Extendicare Tecumseh, Franklin Gardens, Sun Parlour, Lifetimes on Riverside, AMICA, Country Village Homes, Heron Terrace LTC, Riverside Place, Chartwell Oak Park Terrace Retirement Residence, Leamington Mennonite Home, Dolce Vita Retirement Living, Regency Park Nursing Home, and Banwell Gardens Care Centre.

The outbreak at Chartwell Oak Park LaSalle has since been revoked.

There were 340 new cases reported by provincial health officials on Sunday, a 1.5 per cent increase from the previous day, bringing the total number of cases in Ontario to 22,653.

An 8.3 per cent jump in the number of deaths related to the virus were also recorded Sunday. To date, there have been 1,881 deaths across the province.
