Accessing primary health care during the pandemic

There's a new resource available for people in Windsor-Essex who need to access primary health care.

The website ehealthwindsoressex.ca lets people in the community know what services are available and how they can access them.

The website also has a virtual walk-in clinic for people who cannot connect with their family doctor. A person can enter their health information and then will be contacted by a local doctor or nurse practitioner.

"The idea of the virtual walk-in is to provide a service to people who might otherwise have attended a walk-in clinic in person but are not able to do so currently. We would most definitely encourage people who have a family doctor or nurse practitioner to try and connect with them first," said Dr. Jennifer Bondy, president of the Essex County Medical Society.

The third portion of the website gives virtual assessments for COVID-19.

Virtual care is not a substitute for attending the Emergency Department if urgent care is needed.
