Belle River Marina and Lakeview Park West Beach closed

Lakeshore has closed the Lakeview Park West Beach and Belle River Marina due to high water concerns.

Road access to the marina has also been closed. Public Works has erected barricades to block all area entrances. The municipality has also blocked entrances to these areas as they are not safe for the public. Strong winds and high water levels on Lake St. Clair caused the water to top and erode areas along the breakwalls. Old Lakeshore Road from Pine Avenue to Penhuron Drive in Brights Grove has been closed due to flood related road erosion.

Repairs are scheduled for Monday. Lakeshore has advised people not to attend the shoreline and areas where flooding has occurred. The town has further requested non-residents to avoid Lighthouse Cove, Lakeshore Park Road, Valentino Drive, and Ross Beach Road. Driving through areas with water-covered sections can exacerbate flood conditions for area residents.

Free sandbags are available to those who live on waterfront property. Residents can request up to 100 sandbags per property by calling 519-728-2488 between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. throughout the holiday weekend.
