UPDATE: First fine issued for not following emergency pandemic orders

Windsor police have issued their first fine for failure to follow the provincial government’s emergency COVID-19 orders.

On Tuesday afternoon, officers responded to a residence on Arthur Road near Wyandotte Street East after getting reports that a resident wanted someone removed from their house.

Further information was received that the subject was acting aggressively and possibly in possession of a weapon.

When officers arrived at the residence, a number of people were there.

Through investigation, it was determined that the subject, an adult male from London, was failing to comply with an order under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act in relation to the number of occupants at the residence.

He was charged accordingly with a $750 offence notice issued.

Further investigation determined that the same man was wanted on outstanding arrest warrants for failing to attend court and a number of property-related offences. He was arrested without incident.
