Windsor Regional Hospital goes high-tech to keep patients spirits up

Being a patient in the hospital can be lonely, but especially so during a pandemic.

With hospitals clamping down on visitors, Windsor Regional Hospital is using a donation to help keep patients connected to their loved ones during a difficult time.

President of the The Job Shoppe, Meighen Nehme, Jasmine Jasey and other individuals donated 15 iPads to the hospital, which it is using to set up FaceTime sessions between its patients and their friends and family.

So far, it has set up 25 sessions, but anyone who wants to arrange a date and time to speak with a patient through FaceTime can call Jordyn Liebman at 226-759-7989 or email Jordyn.Liebman@wrh.on.ca.

The hospital only asks that those hoping to get in touch with patients be aware of the patient's condition. Liebman is working with clinical teams to arrange the meetings but said some arrangements might not be possible.

Families with loved ones in the hospital can also send them an email. Visit the hospital's website. For patients who do not have access to email, the messages will be printed off and delivered to them.

Windsor Regional Hospital Foundation is coordinating donations of medical and personal protective equipment and has set up a fund. To get more information or make a donation, visit the foundation's website or call 519-987-3160 or 519-995-2392.
