Windsor shutting down transit services after Sunday

The City of Windsor is suspending all Transit Windsor operations as of the end of normal operating hours on Sunday, March 29.

“I recognize that despite the health warnings and advice, many in our community still rely on Transit Windsor for their daily needs,” said Mayor Drew Dilkens. “But, the risks associated with COVID-19 outweigh the inconvenience this shutdown will cause. As the seriousness of this global pandemic continues to become apparent, as mayor of Windsor, I plan to do everything within my power to protect the health of local residents.”

The shutdown will remain in effect until at least April 13, 2020.

The city has decided to shut down the operations as a precautionary measure but will give transit users the weekend to get essentials before the shutdown occurs. Enhanced cleaning measures have been in place for several weeks and will continue in the days ahead.

The shut down will also affect the Leamington to Windsor transit service, and buses in LaSalle.
