COVID-19 Assessment Centre to open

Officials at Windsor Regional Hospital are opening up a centre dedicated to helping out anyone who thinks they are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19.

The COVID-19 Assessment Centre is set to open on Monday, March 16 at the Ouellette Campus of Windsor Regional Hospital. The centre is located at the former outpatient clinic entrance off Goyeau Street.

In a press release, Windsor Regional Hospital CEO and President David Musyj said the goal of the assessment clinic is to respond to individuals in Windsor and Essex County who are experiencing symptoms.

“These measures are being implemented as a part of our collective best effort to limit the potential transmission of the COVID-19 virus from person to person,” said Musyj “They are taking effect to protect you, and your loved ones, whether they are our patients, our visitors, or our staff.”

The clinical team at the centre will conduct a health assessment and provide an examination. Only individuals who meet certain criteria will be tested for the virus.

The WindsorEssex County Health Unit will then follow up with all individuals who have been tested.

The hours of operation will be between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., seven days a week, and will be expanded based on demand.

Hospital officials are asking that only people who are showing symptoms visit the assessment centre. Symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, coughing and difficulty breathing.
